Today was our first real day to see Istanbul and my goodness it's gorgeous! Starting out with the Blue Mosque I was blown away by the ceilings and floors. This city should be called Interior Design 101. As a woman you must cover your hair in and around the mosque with a scarf and when you enter everyone must remove their shoes. They regulate this very seriously and it was surprising to me how many tourists tried to disregard the posted signs and then we're upset when asked to leave. Stinky feet (M) and I played by the rules of course... until we started the picture series, Alex in Small Places. Michael tried to rival this with his own series - Michael throws gang signs with ancient art. After this we wandered over to Hagia Sophia and again the architecture is stunning and rich with history. After exhausting practice with the selfie stick, we stopped to have some delicious pomegranate juice, turkish tea, roasted + salted corn, and roasted chestnuts. Next we went to Topakapi Palace where I found a throne fit just for me, I'll add the pic below. We have also managed to drink Turkish coffee and eat Turkish delight at every available moment. More to come!
Love,
A&M
